Lecture, Shuddhabrata Sengupta (New Delhi)

In his presentation Shuddhabrata Sengupta explores notions of time, labor and value in the current globalscenario: How do they reflect on the production of meaning? How does work in the arts and with imaginationmight help us to understand what is happening in the Global Economy right now? Moreover, Sengupta willreflect on regime directed exercises such as the ‘demonetization’ magic trick that the Indian government triedto pull off recently.

Shuddhabrata Sengupta ist Künstler, Filmemacher, Autor und Teil des Raqs Media Collective.

Raqs stellen weitweit aus, so z.B. Teilnahmen an der documenta, den Biennalen in Venedig, Istanbul, Taipeh, Liverpool, Shanghai, Sydney und Sao Paulo. Sengupta ist einer der Initiatoren von Sarai. Seine jüngste Arbeit umfasst Texte zu Ästhetik, Überwachung und Cyberculture. Derzeit arbeitet er im Sarai Media Lab an einer Serie von Projekten im Bereich der Neuen Medien und der digitalen Kultur. Er ist Keith Haring Fellow in Art and Activism am Center for Curatorial Studies (Hessel Museum of Art, 2015–16) sowie des Menschenrechtsprogramms am Bard College, Annandale on Hudson, New York.
