New Narratives

Thinking Economics Differently

March 30 – April 2, 2017

Plakat New Narratives, WKV Stuttgart 2017

Against the backdrop of public debates surrounding the future use of the old section of the Kunstgebäude Stuttgart, six partner institutions—Akademie Schloss Solitude, Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, Schauspiel Stuttgart, Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Theater Rampe, and Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart—made a proposal to use that space in a transdisciplinary manner.

For the years 2017 and 2018, this work group was given the opportunity by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) to develop a program along thematic guidelines during the period in which the State of Baden-Württemberg will decide on the future of the old building section.

This program will be drafted and realized voluntarily by the above-mentioned institutions, either as a common process or in different constellations. The realization of the projects is financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.

The program mainly involves the conference and festival series “New Narratives,” which will take place in 2017 and 2018, as well as the exhibitions within the context of the anniversaries of the Reformation (2017) and Bauhaus (2018), and a project with regard to the German-French cultural exchange (2018).

In the foreground is the experiment with new formats that blur the boundaries between exhibition, performative projects, art and theory, participation and debate, and which, moreover, take both a global and a local perspective.
